Formula 1 2025: Season Preview and What to Expect

The Formula 1 2025 season kicks off emphatically on March 14 with the Louis Vuitton Australian Grand Prix. This sees the return of the opening race to the country after 5 years. The 2025 F1 season has 24 races but still feels too drawn out.

Trying to recap the previous season is a bit too much to pen down. Fortunately, the new Drive to Survive season will properly help you catch up to the 2024 F1 season.

The Teams

Formula 1 currently has 10 teams with 20 drivers competing for the Drivers and Constructors title. The teams and the drivers are

Rookie Takeover in Formula 1 2025

In the past few seasons, there were a few rookies on the grid. Things have completely evolved in 2025 with 5 new rookies on the grid. These rookies are going to be quite unpredictable. If you look at their latest interview with Laura Winter on the F1 channel, you will see that they are going to disrupt the entire season in their unique way.

F1 Pre-Season Testing

The pre-season tests in Formula 1 don’t always portray a clear picture of the pecking order. However, from the tests, it was evident that all the teams were at the top of their game with the gap between them separated by a few seconds on a one-lap pace. Furthermore, the talent amongst all the drivers will make the entire season quite competitive.

Warning!! Don’t get your hopes high as there was a certain team called McLaren that was 30 seconds ahead of the others in race trim simulation during testing. I’ll talk more about this team in the next section. Which brings me to some of my predictions for Formula 1 2025 season.

My Predictions for the F1 2025 Season

McLaren Will Win the World Constructors Champions

McLaren had one of the best pre-season tests amongst all the other 9 teams. The defending champions had the fastest car during last season and probably will have it this year. To top it off, they have two of the best drivers on the grid. If you equate all this it makes them clear favorites for the constructor’s title.

Oscar Piastri Will Be Drivers World Champion

Oscar Piastri winning the Drivers World Championship is a complete wildcard prediction. Most people have Lando Norris as the favorite, while others may back the 4-time World Champion Max Verstappen. However, Piastri has shown his killer instinct needed to win a championship in his race wins in Monza, Baku, and Hungary last year. And with Mark Webber on his side, he’s not going to bow down to team orders and go all guns blazing.

Deep down, I want Charles Leclerc to win the title and break Ferrari’s title drought. But as everyone knows, Ferrari is going to sabotage the season and leave their fans depressed again.

Williams Will Be Best of the Rest

Williams has steadily progressed to the midfield under the leadership of James Vowles. The team got lucky with the signing of proven race winner Carlos Sainz, pairing him with Alex Albon. Williams came with an overweight car last season but eventually caught up to the rest of the pack with their updates package. This year, they’ve been on the front foot, and with all their past experiences, they can be the best team in the midfield.

More Crashes and Red Flags

The 2025 season is going to be a close-knit, competitive season, and you’ll see a lot of contact between cars. We saw some crazy crashes and numerous red flags last season, but this year, things are only going to intensify. Also, with the rookies looking to prove themselves, it’s going to be a tough season for the FIA stewards to negate. In all this, Drive to Survive is going to benefit and get all the spice for their new season next year.

Lewis Hamilton is Going to Struggle at Ferrari

It is pretty evident that Ferrari signed Lewis Hamilton just for marketing. After struggling with Mercedes last season, he looks like he’s past his prime. And to top it off, Leclerc is Ferrari’s favorite child and has been on the team for many years. So, adapting to Ferrari and their culture with a young teammate is going to catch on to Hamilton.
