Max Verstappen pulled out another driving masterstroke to win the 2025 Belgian GP Sprint race. The low-downforce setup by Red Bull allowed Max to get the speed going into the long straight on the Spa Francorchamps circuit to take the lead from Piastri. The McLarens couldn’t get close to the Dutchmen after he overtook Piastri. This is what everyone was fearing would happen if Verstappen managed to overtake them at the start.
Lando Norris, who started in 3rd, was overtaken by Leclerc on the first lap. However, he managed to claim the position back and was quite close to Piastri at the end of the sprint race. The result meant that the gap in the championship has increased again. Let’s look into some key takeaways from the 2025 Belgian GP Sprint race.
First Win for Red Bull Under Laurent Mekies
Red Bull won their first race, or sprint as you may call it, after Christian Horner left the team. After 20 years with the team, there were several fans who weren’t sure how the team would fare without him. And the very next race weekend, under Laurent Mekies, Verstappen goes on to claim a victory. This will be a huge morale booster for Verstappen as well as the team, who have had some disappointing results lately.
Great Haul of Points for Haas
In the fight for the constructors’ championship, especially in the midfield, a single point makes a huge difference. Haas got 6 valuable points from the 2025 Belgian GP Sprint race. These points bring them 1 point behind Aston Martin and 2 points behind Racing Bulls. A good race tomorrow may push them above them in the constructors’ championship.

A Late Race Start for Pierre Gasly
Pierre Gasly, who qualified in 8th for the sprint qualifying on Friday, couldn’t make it out for the race in the stipulated time. Alpine suspected a water leak in the car that prevented them from getting it on the track at that time. However, two laps down, he was out racing to gather information about the track and enhance car performance.
