Verstappen Silences the British Crowd in the 2025 British GP Qualifying

Max Verstappen clinched the third pole of his F1 career in the British Grand Prix. The British GP qualifying session was quite competitive, with 4 teams in contention to claim pole for the race. However, Max once again pulled out an unbelievable lap to claim pole for the race. The Red Bull car was closely followed by both the McLaren cars, who were not far away from clinching pole in the home race.

The qualifying session had its share of drama, from spins to cheeky tactics in the garage. But the drivers racing at their home showed up in the 2025 British GP Qualifying. So, let’s dive into a quick recap of the qualifying session.

Colapinto Spins out in Q1

Franco Colapinto brought out a red flag after spinning out near the pit straight. The rookie who replaced Jack Doohan mid-season has had a shaky start to life this season. With the team looking at Valtteri Bottas to steady the ship, it’ll be interesting to see how things will fare for him in the race.

The Q1 session was quite close, with Lawson missing out by only 5 tenths of a second. The Kiwi had a slight oversteer in his lap and qualified in 16th for the race. After an impressive weekend in the Austrian GP, both the Saubers were unable to get into Q2. And at last, there was Lance Stroll, who once again failed to get out of the first part of qualifying.

Williams Knocked Out in Q2 in their Home GP

The bad run of form for Williams continued as both their cars were knocked out of Q1. The British team showed great potential throughout the weekend but couldn’t implement it in qualifying. The only icing on the cake is that Carlos Sainz looks like he has found his mojo and looked quite good this weekend.

Yuki Tsunoda has had his best qualifying session after Monaco. He missed out by a small margin going into Q3. 12th is not the best position for the Japanese driver; however, he qualified ahead of both the Racing Bulls. Speaking of them, Isack Hadjar couldn’t make it into Q3 for the second weekend in a row. Esteban Ocon couldn’t put in a second lap in Q2 and qualified 15th in the session.

Verstappen Clinches Pole in a Thrilling 2025 British GP Qualifying

Max Verstappen pulled out an impressive lap out of the locker to be on pole on the Silverstone track. The Dutch driver will be laughing at the British crowd, who are not his biggest fans. He was followed closely by Piastri, who was ahead in the first run, but a slide in his final lap didn’t allow him to improve. Lando Norris will start in 3rd place for the second year in a row for the British Grand Prix.

The driver who came completely out of the syllabus in the qualifying session was the Mercedes of George Russell. Like the entire year, Russell put in an impressive lap and will start 4th in the race.

Before coming into the qualifying session, the Ferraris looked like favorites for pole. However, they couldn’t get the desired performance in the 2025 British GP qualifying session. Lewis Hamilton will start in 5th while Leclerc follows him in 6th.

Kimi Antonelli and Oliver Bearman have grid penalties for the race. They qualified 7th and 8th, respectively, in the qualifying session. But will start in the 10th and 18th positions in the race tomorrow. The last two drivers in the top 10 for Q3 were Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly.
