Lando Norris claimed pole in the Belgian GP qualifying ahead of his teammate. The Briton put in an impressive lap in his first run, which was good enough to get him pole for tomorrow’s race. He was aided by high track temperatures, which affected the other drivers in their 2nd run. Piastri managed to improve in his second lap, but it wasn’t enough. The Aussie looked disappointed, but he will get a tow tomorrow.
Charles Leclerc, who had a lonely race in the sprint race early on, will start 3rd. The Ferrari driver will be licking his lips as he beats the winner of the sprint by a few hundredths of a second. Verstappen had an oversteer at the start of the lap and will start 4th in the race tomorrow. Verstappen will be disappointed with 4th after he had a slight oversteer at the first corner. No driver has won from 4th spot in the Spa Francorchamps circuit, and he’d love to break the record.
Completing the top 5 will be Alex Albon in the Williams. The Thai driver will be ecstatic after qualifying ahead of the Mercedes of George Russell. Let’s look into how each of the sessions transpired.
Big Guns Eliminated in Q1
There was chaos in Q1 even before a competitive lap was set in qualifying. Lance Stroll clipped the front wing of Nico Hulkenberg as they were coming out of the pit box. The funny incident will be taken up by the stewards at the end of the session.
There were more woes for Lewis Hamilton in Spa. The 7-time champion’s lap was deleted for a track limits violation. He was accompanied by Antonelli and Colapinto, who were also eliminated in the first part of sprint qualifying yesterday.
The surprise exit of the session was both Aston Martin drivers. They looked quite competitive yesterday, but couldn’t fire the car in the 2025 Belgian GP qualifying.
Some of the Outliers Out in Q2
The second part of qualifying didn’t have many surprises, as the sprint qualifying, as normal service, resumed to a degree. Both the Haas cars couldn’t make it out of Q2 by a few hundredths of a second. The sprint race was quite helpful to the team in the quest for the constructors’ championship, but this is a major setback for them this weekend.
Pierre Gasly, who has been grinding out the Alpine, didn’t have it this time. The next driver eliminated was Nico Hulkenberg, who hasn’t had the best weekend after getting his first podium in the British GP. Finally, the car starting in the 15th position will be that of Carlos Sainz. The weekend looked quite impressive for the Spaniard, but this qualifying session will be a major setback for his push to the top.
Norris Claims Pole in Q3 for the 2025 Belgian GP Qualifying
Lando Norris claimed an impressive pole position in the Belgian GP qualifying. Norris has had some impressive weekends in the last few races, and it seems that his mother is proving to be his lucky charm. Piastri and Leclerc were the drivers who’ll start in 2nd and 3rd. Verstappen will start a disappointing 4th in the race tomorrow, but don’t count him out yet.

The driver who is the happiest after Norris will be Alex Albon, who qualified 5th in the session. After a poor run of form in the past weekends, this will be a motivating result for the Thai driver to get back to his early-season form. Yuki Tsunoda made it into Q3 for the first time in the last 6 races. He will start 7th in the race today, and it appears that Laurent Mekies has helped him gain the much-needed confidence. The Japanese drivers outqualified both drivers from Racing Bulls to further sweeten his weekend. The last driver in the top 10 was the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto.
