2025 Bahrain GP: Oscar Piastri Conquers the Desert

Oscar Piastri claimed a dominant victory in the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Aussie had a cool and collective race to seal victory, marking McLaren’s first victory in Sakir. Despite a close call with George Russell at the start, Piastri won the race with a commanding lead of 15 seconds ahead of the Brit in second spot.

Lando Norris, who came to this race with a 1-point lead in the championship, finished 3rd after a scrappy race. Charles Leclerc and his teammate Lewis Hamilton finished 4th and 5th in the race. Max Verstappen finished 6th, while Pierre Gasly finished an impressive 7th.

Esteban Ocon finished in 8th after a superb drive for Hass, ahead of Yuki Tsunoda. The last driver in the top 10 was Oliver Bearman. Let’s look into the winners and losers of the 2025 Bahrain GP.

Winners of the 2025 Bahrain GP

1.    Oscar Piastri

Oscar Piastri became the first dual winner of the 2025 F1 season. He reduces the gap to the championship lead to just 3 points. The Aussie is now the championship favorite after a great start to the season, despite the disappointment of the Australian Grand Prix.

2.    George Russell

George Russell has a superb start to the 2025 F1 season and topped it with a second-place finish in the 2025 Bahrain GP. Even after getting a penalty and starting in 3rd place, he has had a great race and even kept Lando Norris behind him in the final laps. After the end of the race, he was at risk of getting a penalty due to unauthorized use of DRS. However, the stewards waved it away, and he retained his second position.

3.    Ferrari Strategy Team

The Ferrari strategy team has faced the heat of the public, but today they proved their worth to some degree. The team gambled by putting their drivers on mediums from the start and looking for a 1-stop strategy. However, after seeing the low output on the hard tire, the team switched up the strategy, which was not showing great output. But even the Gods couldn’t see them doing well, and out came the safety car, which compromised them. Eventually, their cars finished in the position they were expected to finish before the race started.

4.    Yuki Tsunoda

Yuki Tsunoda got his first points in a Red Bull and had an excellent race when you compare him with Max Verstappen. Finishing in 9th is not the best result, but as the circumstances, this was the best result.

5.    Haas

Haas had an excellent race after a horrendous qualifying session where one car finished last and the other hit the wall. A day later both of them ended in the points and took the team back to fifth in the constructor’s championship. This is in complete contrast to their horror show in Australia a month ago.

6.    Pierre Gasly

Pierre Gasly finished an impressive 7th for Alpine after a horrid season so far. Everybody thought that they would struggle in the race, but he was only passed by Max at the final corner. This is confident boosting performance for both Alpine and Gasly.

Losers of the 2025 Bahrain GP

1.    Lando Norris

The horror show of Lando Norris continued in Bahrain after a drama-filled race. At the race start, Lando had one of the best possible starts but had to serve a penalty for starting beyond his grid box. He had another scrappy moment after the safety car restart and several instances. All this, plus his teammate doing so well, is something he needs to look at or Oscar will run away with the title.

2.    Red Bull

Red Bull had a double-point finish in a race for the first time in a while. But the car overall was quite horrendous and painful to watch for their supporters. Even their pitstops, which were their strengths, delayed both drivers. After victory in the Suzuka GP, Red Bull was the 4th fastest car this weekend. The Bahrain International Circuit exposed the worst elements in the Red Bull car and showed them the work they needed to improve it.

3.    Kimi Antonelli

Antonelli had an impressive race overtaking nearly all the midfield runners, including Max. However, the safety car ruined his strategy and he finished 9 places behind his teammate.

4.    Liam Lawson

Liam Lawson’s first full season in Formula 1 continues its horrors. After an unfortunate exit in Q1, he was classified in 17th in the race after a series of penalties. If he wants to rebuilt his career then the next few race weekends are going to be crucial for the Kiwi driver.

5.    Williams

Williams was the best of the rest this season, but neither of their drivers scored any points this weekend. Despite a strong showing by Carlos Sainz in the race, the tangle with Tsunoda damaged his car, and he had to retire from the race.

6.    Audience

The 2025 Bahrain GP was one of the best races this season, with plenty of overtakes and nail-biting action. However, the race direction for the viewers, especially the timing bar was something that needs improvement. When there was a great battle between Leclerc and Norris, the cameras showed us the midfield battle, which was not that important. Furthermore, the viewers have to wait for penalties or any changes in the classification until the race ends, making it less off-the-track action rather than on it.
